How to make your own quilling strips

How to make your own Quilling strips

Quilling, but cutting the paper strips has always been a problem since I started. I know there are kits for it, but I didn't want to put money on them while I make my own strips.
Drawing and cutting my own strips took time and made me active, whenever I wanted to create something with this process.
Then one day I thought I would try this super fast process to cut own strips and,it worked! I've been using it for more than a year now and it has made everything so much faster and easier

Read my instructions to find out how it works!

Supplies Needed:

  • A thin sharp blade
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Paper to cut

Directions:
To cut your own paper strips, first you must mark off how much wide you want your strips.  I use the ruler and mark off 5mm on one edge of the paper. You can do any width you wanted, this is my usual working width of paper.  Then make the same marks on the other side of the paper.

same like other side

Here you can see that I have made marks on both side ends of the paper.  Make sure that the entire length of the paper fits to your ruler.

Now it’s time to cut!  The key to cutting straight strips is to have a sharp blade, and to hold your ruler stiff (not shaking) in place.  If your blade is not sharp you might have to press too hard and it can slip.  If you do not hold your ruler stiff enough in place it can slip and your paper strip will not be even.  Gently but stiff cut your paper with sharp blade against the edge of the ruler.  Make sure you have lined your ruler up evenly with the marks you made on both side previously.

Continue cutting strips as many as you need!
